Yolanda LaSalle

October 20, 1917 — September 26, 2023

Yolanda LaSalle passed away peacefully at her home in Bristol, Pennsylvania on September 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was one month shy of her 106th birthday.

Yolanda was born on October 20, 1917, to her loving parents, Guido and Maria Cagnetti. At the age of 9, Yolanda experienced the loss of her mother and was then raised by her Aunt Julie and Uncle John.  She was forced to leave school after 8th grade and found work on King’s Farm to help support the family. As a young woman, Yolanda was employed at the “soapworks factory” on Radcliffe Street. It was here she was crowned “Queen of the Soapworks,” a memory she always treasured.  Yolanda’s life of hardship ended when she met and married the love of her life, Philip LaSalle in 1937. Together, they raised three devoted daughters.

Yolanda was proud of her Italian heritage and loved baking her famous pizzelles and biscotti for friends, family,  and even the neighborhood mailman. She gave generously of her time to loved ones in need and found joy in helping others. She was an accomplished seamstress and took great pride in the dresses and other outfits she created for her daughters. As a lifelong parishioner of St. Ann’s, Yolanda had an unwavering devotion to the Catholic church, God, and the Blessed Mother. Above all, she loved her family deeply and nothing brought Yolanda more happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Yolanda was predeceased by her husband Philip, sister Lillian, her brothers Patrick, Guido, and Tony and her Aunt Domenica and Uncle Louie - whom she regarded as parents.

Yolanda is survived by her “three angels,” Mary Jane Morici (Isadore), Phyllis Wiegand, Christine LaSalle (Richard), her adoring grandchildren Jennifer Bongiovanni (Lou), John Morici (Gina), Phillip Wiegand (Angela), Noah Wiegand (Jamie) and Natalie Costanzo (David), as well as her 6 great grandchildren, Jordyn Morici; Domenic, Luca, and Ethan Bongiovanni; and Cam and Shay Costanzo. Yolanda also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Yolanda’s life Tuesday, October 3, 2023, 9:30 - 10:30 am at St. Ann Church, 357 Dorrance Street, Bristol, PA 19007.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am.  Interment will follow in St Mark Cemetery for immediate family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Galzerano Funeral Home

The family would like to thank Yolanda’s caregivers, Pat Curran, Kathleen Carey, and Gwenn Curran for the love and care they provided during her illness.
