Vincenzo Barbacane

Vincent “Vince” Barbacane of New Britain, PA passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2023, at Gwynedd Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  He was 84 years old.  Vince was born on Christmas Day, 1938 to Vincent and Mary Barbacane (nee D’Alesandro), and raised in South Philadelphia.  He developed a love for photography at an early age that would become his career and eventually lead to owning his own studio, The Photo Center, in Northeast Philadelphia.  Photography was both a career and hobby, as he enjoyed taking photos of the family, flowers, and vacations that brought the family to Florida in the winter and many different campgrounds in the summer. 

If he didn’t have a camera in his hand, he was probably fishing at a beach or off a pier in Clearwater, Florida, crabbing on the Chesapeake, camping down the Jersey shore with grandchildren alongside, or stoking the grill out back for ribs or the Thanksgiving turkey.  And of course, he was a diehard Phillies fan, and an even bigger fan of his baseball playing grandson.

Though he took great pleasure in the things of life, his greatest pleasure was in the people in his life; his wife, children, and grandchildren who will miss him dearly.  He is survived by his loving and caring wife Liz with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, as well as his daughter Debbie Sciarra (Mario), his two sons Anthony (Rhonda) and John, and his two grandchildren Alexa and Nick Sciarra. He is preceded in death by his sisters Lucy Lerro and Rose Melfi, and his brother Arthur.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, August 14th, 2023, from 10-11 am for visitation at St Jude Catholic Church, 321 W. Butler Ave, Chalfont, PA 18914.  A funeral mass will begin at 11 am.  Interment is private under the direction of Galzerano Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in the name of Vincent Barbacane.
