Teri Leah Satterfield

April 28, 1955 — June 20, 2019

On Thursday, June 20, 2019 the sun set on our dear mother, grandmother, godmother, cousin and friend, “Sugar Plum”, Teri Leah Satterfield. Born April 28, 1955 in Bristol PA to the late Josephine Satterfield, Teri represented what a true servant of God really means.  With her incredible talent for cooking and her infectious smile, she greeted everyone with the same hello “Sugar Plum” and instantly you knew that you are in the family.  This warm greeting became her signature.

Teri was educated in the Bristol Borough School District, and in 1973 graduated from Bristol Jr. & Sr. High.  In high school Teri performed in the marching band and developed a love for photography.  After graduating from high school, Teri worked at JC Penney as a cashier, where she saved enough money to go to school. In 1975 Teri, was accepted into the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and earned an Associate degree in Photography.  Teri fell in love with Pittsburgh and decided to stay; soon after Teri found work with the USX Corporation where she was employed for over 10 years.

Due to her mother having health issues, Teri returned to Bristol where she worked at Sterns part-time and then later landing a job at Verizon.  Teri worked for Verizon for 30 years until her health started failing.  Teri started out in Verizon as a part-time phone operator and eventually found her way to the customer service business section.  This is where Teri showed the rest of the world her passion for people and wanting to help in any way she could.

Teri had a love for shopping, reading and cooking.  Her love for traveling and her family led to several trips to Florida, Las Vegas and Hawaii.  Birthdays were also a big deal with Teri, ensuring that Michael, Danielle and the grands have a special time on their special day.  Shopaholic can also describe Teri with her love for clothes, purses and perfume she could put the Kardashians to shame.  Teri had a passion to increase her knowledge or to stimulate her mind, so she didn’t watch much TV but give her a best-selling novel and she was all over it. With her obviously busy schedule, Teri made time for others by offering her culinary skills for holidays, picnics and company events.

Teri had a way to make you feel like you are her only friend, so that is why it makes it so hard to say good-bye.  Teri leaves to cherish her memories, Danielle and Michael, grandchildren Thomas, Charlie, Jordan, Shane, Eloise, Isabella, Michela, Naz and one aunt, Pinkie Duncan.  Teri is preceded in death by her mother Josephine Satterfield, grandparents Rev. Herman and Ernestine Satterfield; several aunts and uncles Clementine Ray, Charles and Ernestine Johnson, Howard Duncan and Estella Satterfield and one cousin, Juanita Rucker.  Teri also is survived by one goddaughter, Kishia Alford and will be sorely missed by her 1st cousins David Bussey, Bruce Bussey, Ernestine Bussey, Geri Bussey, Shawn Ray, Rev. Tracy Duncan, Michelle Duncan-McDuffie, Jill Duncan, Karen Duncan and Kenny Duncan.  Special friends Madelyn Whitely, Dawn Davis, Adrian Williams-Harris, Laverne Conley, Cim Rorison, the Keys family, her Verizon family and numerous others she loved and cherished.
