Sonia L Martini

September 1, 1934 — November 7, 2021

Sonia L. Martini of Holland, PA passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Holland Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.  She was 87.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph of 63 years in 2019.

Sonia was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa as the ninth child of eleven. After finishing high school she joined the US Marine Corps. It was during that service that she met her future husband whom she married in 1955.  They settled in Bristol, PA where they had two children.  Sonia went back to school on the GI Bill and got both her Bachelor and Masters degrees with top honors. She then went on to teach business at the Burlington County Vocational School in NJ where she finished her career as business administrator for the school.  After retirement she developed her passion for gardening and was a beloved member of the Four Lanes Garden Club in Langhorne. Her award-winning gardens were featured at the annual Holiday House Tour in 2011.  Sonia went on to be very involved with gardening workshops and planning at her retirement community where she organized fundraising for the building of a serenity garden. 

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sonia was loved by all who met her. She leaves her two children Nina and Louis, grandchildren Erik, Jena, Tristan, Joseph and two great grandchildren Scarlet and Bennet, as well as her older sister Betty and youngest sister Nelda. 

A private ceremony will be held at a later date at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery where she will be interred with her loving husband. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Four Lanes End Garden Club - Langhorne.
