Sonal Chaitanya Bijoor

Sonal Bijoor, (nee01/13/1944 Shaila Samsi), 78, of Yardley, passed away on June 20th at peace and by the side of her loving husband Chaitanya Bijoor.  Sonal loved her family and friends unconditionally.

Sonal was born on January 13th, 1944, in Mumbai, India to Bhavanishankar and Shanta Samsi. She was one of six siblings and graduated from Bombay University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.  When Sonal moved to Pennsylvania in [1969], she dedicated her life to raising a family with Chaitanya.

While most of her friends and family recognize Sonal for her prowess and creativity in all forms of cuisine, Sonal was quietly passionate about solving complex games and puzzles.  You could always find her solving NYT crosswords, sudoku or any complex game that crossed her path.

Sonal excelled at motherhood and was the foundation of our family. She was selfless, never missed a special date, and was our constant cheerleader and supporter. She was always available with a helping hand, warm plate of food or a place to stay for friends, friends of friends and those in need.

Sonal was predeceased by her parents (Bhavanishankar and Shantabai Samsi), her brother, Arun Samsi, and sisters, Bharati Samsi and Nirmala Nerurkar. Sonal is survived by her husband Chaitanya and children Anjali Savkur (Chetan) of Yardley, PA, and Ajay Bijoor (Mona), of Brooklyn, NY and three grandchildren, Jaya, Yana and Sara, her sister Usha Bantwal, brother Ajit Samsi (Michelle), and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests that donations be made to the Saraswat Foundation in lieu of flowers. There will be a private service on June 23, 2022, at Galzerno Funeral Home in Levittown, PA. Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Sonal’s life at her home on Friday, June 24, 2022, from 6-9pm.
