Scott A. Hopkins

January 9, 1951 — November 29, 2020

Scott Andrew Hopkins of Levittown and Bensalem, PA, passed into Glory on November 29, 2020, while surrounded by family at his home. Scott lived a life full of passions. He loved his Lord and Savior who he met in 1973 and would spend the rest of his life sharing that passion on missions trips and working with youth groups. He was dedicated to his family, a faithful husband and wonderful father and grandfather. From a young age, he had an obsession for cars that became a love for the classics, and all through his life he enjoyed putting together models of his favorites and displaying them around the house. He was a drummer, playing in clubs as a member of The Progressions when he was just 16. He would go on to play in many other bands like Hot-Buttered Funk, In His Presence, One-eleven, Hidden Faces, and Obadiah – even landing a gig at the Creation Festival. He played drums in the worship bands for Cornwells United Methodist Church, Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia, and Bucks County Community Church. He was a runner, running five miles after work every day for over thirty-five years, right up until his diagnosis earlier this year.  He was a movie buff who loved the beach, coffee, the Philadelphia Eagles, U2, and pizza (he was known as “Pizza Pop-pop” by some of his granddaughters). He loved to relax by floating in the pool while listening to the Oldies. Scott may have seemed shy or stand-offish from an outsider’s perspective, but those on the inside got to know him as the life of the party, his silly nature, whit, and sarcasm always making people laugh.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Susan (Sheipe); son Shawn (Allison Heydt); daughter Shannan Keeler (Nate); daughter Stephanie Combs (Matthew); sister Victoria Peck (Michael); brother Byron Hopkins (Corie); brother-in-law Timothy Sheipe; sister-in-law Maggie Sheipe Dunham; sister-in-law Marie Sheipe Rickards and lots of nieces and nephews. Pop-pop was adored by his seven grandchildren: Nathan, Grace, Wynslow, Aidan, Verity, Hannah, and Raine. He was preceded in death by his mother Ada Waltersdorff Hopkins and his father Byron Jack Hopkins. Scott was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High school in Levittown, and Bloomsburg State College. He worked as an industrial engineer for Volcanized Rubber in Morrisville, PA, Switlik Parachute Company in Trenton, NJ, and retired in sales for Atlantic America/Ferguson in Warrington, PA.

Although he will be terribly missed, we will soon be with him in heaven where we will never be separated again.
