Ronald Dempsey

Ronald (Ron) Dempsey was born in Stockton, Georgia on March 25, 1951, to the late Roosevelt Burgess and Jimmie Quncina Thomas. Ron joined the U. S. Army in 1969 and served 21 years. During his tenure in the military he received the Army Service Ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal, 4 Oversea Service Bars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge w/Palm, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He received an Honorable Discharge on September 30, 1990. On December 18, 1990, he embarked on his new journey with Growth Horizons, Inc. as a Residential Program worker at Midwood. Ron’s work ethics could not be compared; whenever you saw him, he was either going to work or coming from work. He retired from Growth Horizons in 2021 as a Program Director. Ronald Dempsey is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane Delores Morgan, of 30 years; Brother - Dennis Burgess, and 5 sisters - Linda Tranquill, Betty Jo Thomas, Gloria Jenell Sharp, Fannie Pearl McDuffie and his beloved sister, Veronica (Teenie) Ashford. Left to mourn his passing he leaves: Three stepchildren Rance Williams, Jane (Margo) Williams and Mark Williams. Three brothers Franklin (Liz) Stafford, Benjamin Wilson, and Robert (Brenda) Wilson. Four sisters Lois Jean Smith, Lodinetta Sirmans, Reatha Terrall, and Lorainne (Larry) Bryant. Granddaughter Dionna Williams and 2 great grandchildren Isaiah Charity and Serenity Charity. Like a son, Tracey Burton, favorite nephew, Christopher (Chris) Stafford, special friend Jacqueline Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family and friends are invited to gather Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol – Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057. Funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery under the direction of Galzerano Funeral Home.
