Dr. Ramesh Chandra Satyendranath Pradhan died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family and friends on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the age of 84. Dr. Pradhan was born on June 4, 1933 in Biwandi, Maharashtra, India to the late Dr. Satyendranath M. and Snehalata S. (Tamhane) Pradhan. He attended King George School where he graduated with Honors in 1949, and he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Elphistone College, Mumbai University in 1951. He attended KEM Hospital and Seth GS Medical College, Mumbai, India and received his medical degree in 1956 and completed residency in 1958. In the same year, he began a radiology residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC and completed his studies in 1961 and returned to Mumbai, India. He started his own practice and also taught at various teaching hospitals in Mumbai. In 1971, he returned to the United States and worked at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York City. Dr. Pradhan moved to Philadelphia in 1974 and spent the majority of his career at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia. He continued to practice medicine by travelling to Australia and New Zealand and finally retired in 2005. He was a long time resident of Yardley, Pennsylvania and lived in the Villages of Flowers Mill in Langhorne at his death. He loved listening to all kinds of music, especially Indian classical. He travelled heavily, visiting over 50 countries during his lifetime. He also enjoyed watching the Indian cricket team and was able to see his favorite football team, the Philadelphia Eagles, win the Super Bowl before he passed away. Dr. Pradhan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shaila R. Pradhan, and his three daughters, Dr. Shilpa Pradhan and husband Douglas E. Wilson of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, Varsha Chandra and husband Gautam Chandra of Vienna, Virginia and Reshma Pradhan Lensing and husband Bradley W. Lensing of Corte Madera, California. He was fortunate to have held all seven of his grandchildren, Anisha Wilson, Graham WIlson, Sonali Chandra, Anika Chandra, Aditi Chandra, Shyla Lensing and Kiera Lensing. A lifetime Hindu, Dr. Pradhan will be cremated. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2PM sharp at the Clubhouse in The Villages of Flowers Mill, 1 Rock Cress Way, Langhorne PA 19047.
