Ralph E Gumbert

October 8, 1926 — February 19, 2024

Ralph Emerson Gumbert was born in Elizabeth, PA and passed away peacefully in Fort Ashby, WV at the age of 97 surrounded by his family. Mr. Gumbert has resided in Levittown, PA since 1953 where he and his wife Patricia lived happily as original homeowners through 70 years of marriage. They were devoted members of Immaculate Conception parish and St. Michael the Archangel parish. One of his proudest accomplishments was serving in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Blue Ridge AGC-2 as a Gunner’s Mate in the Pacific theater. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class. Mr. Gumbert retired after 30 years from the US Steel Corporation in Fairless Hills, PA. He was blessed to spend more time retired and enjoying the true gifts of life than he did working. This time was spent with the love of his life, Patricia, his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was also a talented wood carver and could often be found whittling away in his “Poppy Shop.” In his younger years he’d often spend time golfing with his best friend Mr. Thomas Rowlands. More recently he could be found relaxing in his recliner enjoying a glass of bourbon and watching Gun Smoke (over and over). Ralph is survived by his loving children, Mark (Nancy) of Gilbertsville, PA, Michael (Katherine) of Alameda, CA, Marybeth of Fort Ashby, WV, Patrick of Levittown, PA, Ralph (Jackie) of Ft. Ashby, WV, and PeggyAnn Harrington (Robert) of Meadville, PA; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (nee McMahon); son, Matthew Thomas; parents, Arthur and Elizabeth; brothers, Chuck, Harry, Gene, George, James; Sisters, Florence, Mildred, Mary, Mae, Lucille, and his best friend and golfing buddy- Mr. Thomas Rowlands of Levittown, PA.
