Pearl C Schafle Dean

Pearl C. Schafle Dean of Bristol, PA passed away peacefully on November 8th, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 95. Anyone who knows us knows that family is everything and it all stemmed from Pearl Dean. G-mom/Nonna. She taught us about love, strength, humility, tradition, respect…. The list is endless.  Sleepovers with Pastina, a cup of tea, Golden Girls.

Sundays were for family, Frank (Sinatra) the smell of gravy, and Gmom in her tiny kitchen with her glass of beer. We are filled with beautiful memories of spending time in the kitchen with her as she taught us all her recipes. The way the dough of the Easter bread is supposed to feel, the feast of the seven fishes, scrubbing the hell out of the crabs to make gravy!!! No new shoes on the table, a little bit of anything “isn’t gonna hurt.” Have just a taste of something, don’t go to bed on an empty stomach. A house of love was made with elastic walls. There was ALWAYS room at her table.

She is preceded in death by her parents Francis and Catherine Casmirri, her son in law Richard Venne, and her second husband John Dean.

She survived losing the great love of her life at such a young age Jack Schafle, raised 5 strong, beautiful daughters Joyce Morelli (Carmen), Carol Winik (Charles), Jackie Whelan (Rick), Johnette Venne, Cynthia Schumann (Fred) who she would be so proud of for being there for each other right now, 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Few can leave a legacy like that.

Our heart's will forever be filled with gratitude for the blessing Mom and G-mom was to us. My Nellie Pearl said she believes Nonna is always right with us, looking out for us and I know she’s right.

Last but certainly not least, an expression I never feel complete without after we did a task together….“It was a big job.”

Relatives and Friends are invited to her viewing on Monday, November 13, 2023, at St Ephrem Church in Bensalem from 9:30-10:30am. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. 

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of her name to St Jude Children's Hospital.
