Nancy J Elwert

November 15, 1937 — April 26, 2020

Nancy Jean "Porter" Elwert, 82, of North Wales, PA passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2020.

Nancy was born in Philadelphia and raised in Chestnut Hill, PA.  She was the daughter of John Porter and Anna (Speck) Porter.  She attended high school at Mount Saint Joseph Academy where she was an accomplished swimmer.  She competed in many meets including the Olympic trials.

Nancy moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with her family after high school.  There she joined a snorkeling (skin diving) club, called the "Snorkel Snoopers" where they would do ocean dives in Florida, the Bahamas and Bimini.  Nancy moved back to the Philadelphia area and worked in the brokerage business where she met the love of her life, Alfred Elwert.  They were married in 1961 and moved to Warminster, PA where they raised their four children.

Nancy was a devout Catholic and attended church services on a regular basis.  She was not a person who could sit still for too long.  It was not uncommon to see her wallpapering or painting rooms in her house, upholstering chairs, refurbishing furniture, and fixing what was broken.  She loved reading her National Geographic, Readers Digest, Archeology Today and her People magazine.  She was always interested in Archeology and the mysteries of the Universe.  She loved watching documentaries, action adventure movies and slap stick comedies.  Nancy was an excellent cook and made sure her family was well fed.  She loved waiting on them whenever she could.  She enjoyed having family gatherings and entertaining.  She always had a tune in her head and loved to sing.  She loved to dress up, put on her makeup and her always large earrings.  She had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh which made her the life of the party.  Nancy enjoyed taking walks at local parks, swimming in her backyard pool and going to the beach with her husband, Al.  She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness and the love she had for her husband and family.

Nancy is preceded in death by her sister, Dolores (Gillies), and Jacqueline (Yeakel) and her husband of 59 years, Alfred who passed away in March.  She is survived by her sister, Mary Anne Ominski, and her brother, John Porter.  Nancy was the loving mother to Edward, Beth Voelker, Michael (Linda), Nancy (Angela Rosato) and second mother to her sister in law, Cathryne (Elwert) Waurick.   She was mom mom to Ryan Voelker (Lori), Tyler Voelker, Sarah Plaza (Tim), Laura Miller (John), Theresa Orecchio (Zach) and Christopher and great grandmother to Theoden Orecchio.  She was aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
