Michael J Filips

November 22, 1925 — January 4, 2019

Michael J. Filips, age 93, of Langhorne, PA, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he along with his wife, lived in Northeast Philadelphia for many years before moving to Langhorne 20 years ago.  He was a WWII Navy veteran who proudly served aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Windham Bay in the South Pacific during operations at Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Guam.  He also was aboard during the famous typhoon of 1945, and sailed to the Ryukyu Islands and Pearl Harbor.  Mr. Filips was employed by B. Paul Hobbies.   He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Theresa M. (nee: Vito); his loving children, Sandra Amato and her husband Michael, and Dr. John Filips and his wife Judy; his grandchildren whom he adored, Brian, Steven, and Christopher Filips, Michael Amato Jr. and his wife Kristen, Jacqueline Johnson and her husband Brendan, and Kimberly Amato (and her fiancée Matthew); great grandchildren Makenzie and Michaela; and many loving and caring nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to call Wed., 10am, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA, where a funeral Mass will begin at 11am.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.  Contributions in Mr. Filips name may be made to Louis T.
