Mary H Zackowski

December 28, 1954 — May 20, 2024

Levittown, PA

Mary H. Zackowski (nee Kendig), age 69, of Levittown PA, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, at her home from complications of strokes, diabetes, and heart failure.

Mary grew up in Levittown and attended Saint Michael the Archangel Grade School and graduated from Bishop Conwell High School, class of 1972. After completing her education she worked as a secretary for various companies, including McGinnis Real Estate in Levittown.

Mary was a devoted member of Emily United Methodist Church, Levittown, where she generously volunteered at their thrift store. Her love for country and polka music brought rhythm to her days. Mary found solace and happiness in gardening in her yard. Her blooming flowers were a testament to her nurturing spirit. She frequented yard sales and flea markets with zest and enjoyed socializing with people from all walks of life.

Animals held a special place in Mary's heart. She loved the stray/feral cats that visited her yard every day. She fed and cared for them and loved them as her own. Before her loyal companion dog Bear passed away, they walked the neighborhood together every day. Walking at the YMCA in Fairless Hills was not just an exercise routine but a way for Mary to stay connected to herself and the community around her.

Mary's departure was met with deep sorrow by those who knew and cherished her. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Teresa Kendig, sister Theresa Ann Kendig, husband Richard Zackowski, and her beloved dog Bear.

Mary is survived by her three brothers, Robert (Bubba) Kendig, Joe (Janet) Kendig, Jerry (Dawn) Kendig all of Levittown, PA; and sister Loretta Tenaglia (Tony- deceased) of Langhorne, PA; mother-in-law Donna Heart, FL; sister-in-law Becky Salnaitis (Joe) Levittown, PA; three nephews: Marc and David Tenaglia, Langhorne, PA, Kyle Kendig, Plymouth, PA; one niece Taylor Salnaitis; as well as numerous neighbors, friends, and relatives.

Mary's presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished as a beacon of light guiding those she left behind through the darkness of loss. May she rest in peace knowing that she was loved and will never be forgotten.

Thank You to Healing Hands Personal Care Agency nurse aides, and One Place Home Health, for your care and dedication to Mary.

To honor Mary's wishes she will be laid to rest with her mother, father, and sister, privately, at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem PA

 Pain and Sorrow

Each day I awake, my body aches
The Lord has dealt me sorrow,
But be not sad my love for he has promised me a better tomorrow!

He giveth a mind gone mad with rage
A body gone bad from old age
But a spirit not sad for the Lord will deliver me a better tomorrow.

An enemy near in gentle quiet peace
Silent footsteps - felt in the night
pain may pierce this body the
enemy it may be, but fear it not
I am forever in the Lord's sight.

My body gone weak from this
pain and sorrow, but my spirit
high, my fear all gone- my
Lord has delivered me a
better tomorrow!
