Ligia A. Munoz

Ligia A. Munoz of Langhorne, PA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at St Mary Medical Center with her family by her side. She was 77.

Ligia was born in Tipitapa, Nicaragua where she lived her childhood and young adulthood with her loving parents and sisters. On her 23rd birthday she married Leonel and they began their life together. In 1970 they made the brave decision to come to America and begin a new life.

In February 1971, only 2 months after Ligia’s arrival to the USA, their first-born daughter, Johanna, was born. Ligia’s initial years with Leonel as young immigrant parents was at times difficult and uncertain. But they persevered and eventually settled in Philadelphia by the time they welcomed their second daughter Thamara in May 1972. Ligia spent her life as a hardworking and devoted mother providing a beautiful life for her daughters. They remained in Philadelphia for most of their lives where they had many years of love and happiness.

Ligia will be remembered as a dedicated wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and hardworking laborer.  She enjoyed music, dancing and sharing her life and love with her family. The love and devotion she gave is immeasurable.  Her beautiful, infectious smile and her sweet nature brought warmth and happiness to all who knew her.  Her love and light will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Ligia was the beloved wife of 54 years to husband Leonel, cherished mother to Johanna Norat (Muñoz) and Thamara Muñoz, devoted “Mima” to grandchildren Edwin Norat Jr, Elianna Norat, and Victoria Muñoz. She will be deeply missed by many other family members.

Family and friends are invited to gather Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 6 – 7:30 pm at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol – Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057. Funeral Service will begin at 7:30 pm. Interment is private under the direction of Galzerano Funeral Home.
