Leonel A. Munoz

Leonel A Munoz of Langhorne PA passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 6, 2024. He was 78 years old.

Leonel is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years Ligia, he was the cherished father to Johanna and Thamara, and devoted “Papito” to grandchildren Edwin , Elianna, and Victoria. He will be deeply missed by many other family members and loved ones.

Leonel was born in Catarina, Nicaragua on October 23, 1945. He spent his childhood and young adulthood in his beloved hometown with family. At age 24 he married Ligia Garcia, and they began their life together. In 1970 they made the brave decision to come to America and begin a new life.

In February 1971, their first-born daughter Johanna arrived. Leonel’s initial years with Ligia as young immigrant parents was at times difficult and uncertain. But they persevered and eventually planted roots in Philadelphia by the time they welcomed their second daughter Thamara in May 1972. Leonel spent his life as an extremely dedicated and hardworking provider. He had a tremendous work ethic (often working 2 jobs), and his life’s mission was to provide a beautiful life for his family. He and Ligia remained in Philadelphia as a family for most of their lives where they had many years of love and happiness.

Leonel will be remembered as a dedicated husband, devoted father and grandfather, and hardworking laborer. He was a lifelong learner who enjoyed reading and always expanding his knowledge of all things from everyday life needs to world affairs. He was the ultimate road trip enthusiast, and his family will always remember and cherish the abundant memories made on many family vacations. Among his biggest goals was passing on the importance of education and doing all he could to ensure his daughters received a good education. One of the things he was most proud of was seeing his daughters receive college degrees. Leonel was blessed with 3 grandchildren who loved and adored him. He loved sharing his life’s experiences, adventures, and stories with them. His constant presence, love and support in their lives is something they will always cherish. Leonel was blessed to continue sharing and enjoying life with his family as he entered his golden years. The love and devotion he gave, especially to Ligia the love of his life, as she faced heartbreaking health challenges, is immeasurable. His wisdom, sense of humor and kind nature will be remembered always.

Family and friends are invited to gather Monday, September 16, 2024, from 6 – 8 pm at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol – Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057. Interment is private under the direction of Galzerano Funeral Home.
