Julia M. Kmiec (nee Tisone) (90), passed away peacefully at home, on Monday, June 21, 2021. A lifelong resident of Bristol Borough, she was always surrounded by family and was very proud of being a Bristolian and of her Italian heritage. She was also proud of the fact that she resided in the same house her entire life on her favorite street and all the memories that came along with it. She was always everyone’s “go to” person for advice, a favor, or just wanting to be in her company.
Julia graduated from Bristol High School in 1948 and was class Valedictorian. She was one of the final recipients of the Grundy Medal award. She was the youngest of 9 children and was the family Matriarch. She was always there to lend a helping hand or patient ear to whomever needed it. She was lovingly referred to as “Aunt Julia” by not only all of her nieces and nephews but extended “family” as well. Her love and compassion for others was something to truly be admired.
Julia was employed by C. E. Stoneback & Sons for many years until she married the love of her life, Charlie, and they had a family of their own. She was a devoted wife and mother and after her kids were grown, she went back to work at Simon & Schuster, Inc. from where she would ultimately retire. She was always that “take charge” person you could always count on and look to for direction.
She loved to cook and keep house and was extremely organized, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted St. Ann/St. Mark parishioner for her entire life and could be regularly seen every Sunday and Tuesday in “her spot” in church. She would regularly meet for “club” with her lifelong friends, Jean Bliss, Mary Long, Stella Manna and Nina Zak when the gang was together. Julia was an active member for many years of the Golden Marks and Lower Bucks Activity Center where she enjoyed many Senior trips with friends. In more recent years, you would find her at one of her favorite restaurants, Cesare’s with her friends, the Church gals, after attending Mass or just a night out. She so enjoyed their company and friendship, and they were such an important part of her life.
Julia was the daughter of the late Michael and Caroline (Comegna) Tisone. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 38 years Charles G. and her siblings and their spouses (James, Domonic, James M., Louis (Sophie), Anthony (Dorothy), and John (Grace) Tisone and sister, Antoinette Ciabattoni. She was also pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law Janet (Robert) Hand, Joan (Michael) Worek, Laura (Michael) Janoski, Walt (Helen) Kmiec, John (Rose) Kmiec, Josephine (William) Ozga, Fritz (Liliian) Wszolek and Ann (Joseph) Midura.
Julia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles R. and Cynthia Kmiec of Philadelphia and daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Peter Cunningham of Newtown, and the loving Mom-Mom of Ryan, Michaela and Julia Cunningham whom she loved endlessly. She is also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and her special niece and friend, Linda Reilly (Bob) and family with whom she shared a close bond, as well as all her wonderful Grant Avenue neighbors. She will be sadly missed by all.
