Josie Rovnan, 80, of Bristol, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2023.

Josie was born on February 5, 1943, in Williamstown, NJ, the 5th of 7 children to James and Josephine Genna. She was a proud graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School class of 1960. Josie was a retiree from The Archdiocese of Philadelphia where she served administratively in Our Lady of Calvary Elementary School in Philadelphia, PA, Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia, PA, Holy Family College Philadelphia, PA, and Saint Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Croydon, PA. She also served as a freelance reporter for the Bucks County Courier Times. At times she was a softball coach, a gym teacher, and District Commissioner of the Delaware District in the Boy Scouts of America. After retiring, Josie spent her time gardening, crafting, and baking cookies for the outreach ministry of Faith Baptist Church, of which she was a dedicated member.

Josie is survived by her adoring husband of 61 years, the love of her life George J. Rovnan Sr., a former Marine and now retired, Philadelphia Police Officer, their four children George Jr. of Hulmeville, PA, Joseph IV of Philadelphia, PA, Matthew of Bristol, PA, and Jennifer Steere, of Levittown, PA., their eight grandchildren Brian Steere, Katarina Pickford, Jenna Steere, Jessica Rodriguez, Chelsea Ann Rovnan, Joshua Steere, J.R. Rovnan, and Jacob Steere, and their eleven great-grandchildren; Jaidalynn Pickford, James Pickford Jr., Cameron Quinn, Giovanni Rodriguez, Charlee Rose Steere, Juliet Josephine Pickford, Elliana Rose Steere, Alivia Rodriguez, Levi James Steere, McKenna Rae Steere, and Spencer Rose Berchem.

Josie was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Vicky, Janie, Judy, and brother Sammy. She is survived by sister Janet and brother Tony.

Family and friends are invited to gather, wearing a touch of yellow, on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 9:00-10:45am at Faith Baptist Church, 1515 Wistar Road, Fairless Hills, PA 19030, for a viewing. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 followed by a procession to Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem, PA for a brief graveside ceremony and interment.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a love offering in her honor to Faith Baptist Church.
