Joseph F Farruggio Jr.

July 16, 1933 — March 17, 2023

Joseph F. Farruggio, Jr., of Bristol Boro and former Mayor, passed away on Friday, March 17,  2023 at St Mary Medical Center with his family by his side.  He was 89.  Born and raised in Bristol Boro where he has been a lifelong resident.  Joseph was a graduate of Bristol High School Class of 1952.  Following graduation, he attended St. Joseph’s University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Joe was the former Vice President of Farruggio’s Express.  He was a lifelong and devoted parishioner of St. Ann Church.

 Joe was involved in many organizations throughout his life including American Trucking Association, Bristol Elks, Bristol Moose and Legion of the Moose, Bristol Boro Recreation Authority, Past Vice President - Bucks County Health Enterprise Board of Lower Bucks Hospital, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #53, International Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association (Life Member), Italian Mutual Aid 5th Ward -  Past President (Life Member), Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce and Navy League, Past President - Sons of Italy Lodge #539, St. Ann’s A.A. (Life Member), 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council #906, Temple Lower Bucks Hospital Inc. Advisory Committee – Past Member, past president of Bristol Boro Republican Club, past member of the Bristol Boro Rotary Club, member of Bucks County Republican Century Club.  In 1972 ran for the House of Representatives of Pennsylvania 140th District of Bucks County lost by a slight margin.

 He is preceded in death by his parents Giuseppe and Maria (nee: Indelicato) Farruggio, siblings baby Salvatore and Antonio Farruggio, Angelina Marino (nee: Farruggio) and her husband Nicholas, Samuel J. Farruggio Sr. and his wife Madeline (nee: Marini), Eva Passanante (nee: Farruggio) and her husband John, Anthony (Amos) Farruggio and his wife Margie (nee: Locket), Carmella Gervasio (nee: Farruggio) and her husband Frank, Jennie Mama (nee:  Farruggio) and her husband Anthony, Dora Stampone (nee: Farruggio)  and her husband Joseph Stampone.  He is also preceded in death by his nieces Rosanne Palmer (nee: Marino), Jenny Mama, and nephew’s Nicholas Marino and Jimmy Marino. 

Joseph will be greatly missed by his nephews Samuel J. Farruggio, Jr. and his wife Karen (nee: Lawrence), Joseph S. Farruggio and his wife Cindy (nee: Arnold), his niece Maria Farruggio, Connie Arrivello (nee: Stampone) and her husband Frank, Mary Jo Mama-Farr.  Augustine (AJ) Passanante and his wife Anne (nee: McGinley), Joyce Passanante, Maria Passanante, Joanne Marino (nee: Lippincott), Phyllis Smith (nee: Gervasio) and her husband Patrick, Francine Gervasio, Dr. Dominic Gervasio, P.H.D., Mary Jo Overwater (nee: Gervasio) and her husband Arjan, John Farruggio and his wife Phyllis (nee: DeFrancesco), Joseph A. Farruggio. He will also be greatly missed by many great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday March 24, 2023, from 9:00-10:30am St. Ann Church, 357 Dorrance Street, Bristol, PA 19007. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am.  Interment will follow in St. Mark Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of his name to St Ann/St Mark Church 1025 Radcliffe St Bristol Pa 19007.
