Gloria F. Wightman

May 23, 1943 — January 27, 2021

Gloria Frances Wightman (Biernat), 77, of Mount Holly, NJ passed away on Wednesday, January 27th, 2021. A beloved mother, grandmother and sister, she was born and raised in Philadelphia and Bensalem, and graduated from Bishop Egan High School in 1961. She later moved to Burlington County, NJ to start a family and a career.

Gloria was a successful dancer and instructor in her early years, earning her the title of “Polka Queen” in Philadelphia in 1962.  In early adulthood she worked at the steel mill, later in life she was a longtime employee in the accounting departments with Betz Industries and Dunkin Donuts. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, bird watching, visiting the casino, and she never missed an episode of Jeopardy! She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish in Mt. Holly, and a dedicated volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul and Virtua Hospital. She was always eager to offer her time and support to her family, friends, and community.

Loving mother to Michelle Wightman, Danielle Cassidy (Neil) and Charles Wightman III and a loving stepmother to Anthony Wightman.  Cherished grandmother to David Moretz, Jr. and Katherine Cassidy. Gloria was the eldest of eight children of the late Frank and Wanda Biernat, and is survived by her siblings:  Thomas Biernat, Robert Biernat (Michelle), Frank Biernat, Jr., Joseph Biernat (Kathy), Carol Russell (the late Larry), Francine Gallagher (Joseph), Maryann Christine (Robert), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 10 – 11 am at St Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020.  Funeral Mass will begin at 11 am.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Gloria would have appreciated donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Mount Holly, NJ.
