George J Taraba

September 23, 1930 — March 9, 2023

George J. Taraba of Falls Township, PA passed away Thursday morning, March 9, 2023, just minutes before his son Edwin, grandson John and Reverend Michael Wallack arrived at Yardley Rehab Center to pay last respects and offer prayers for his soul. George was born in Tresckow, PA, grew up in McAdoo where he was baptized, confirmed in the Catholic church and served as an altar boy at St. Kunegunda Parish in the 1940’s. After graduating from McAdoo High school he joined the National Guard serving at Fort Indiantown Gap and Philadelphia PA Army National Guard. As a young man he worked as a heavy construction equipment mechanic and crane specialist, sent to Greenland to train personnel in set up and repair of Loraine cranes, became a salesman for L.B. Smith Construction Equipment and later a salesman at Reedman’s in Langhorne, PA. He also operated a Cottman Transmission shop in Trenton New Jersey. George is preceded in death by his wife Nancy, his parents George and Julia Taraba, his siblings Stella Sochka, Verna Vajda, Mary Boyle, Stephen, John, Joseph, Vincent and Wallace Taraba and Delores Degenhart. He is survived by his two children Edwin Taraba (Elizabeth) of Falls Township, PA, Elaine Madigan (Micheal) of Hamilton New Jersey and first wife Catherine Stroup of Skillman New Jersey. He lived in Twin Oaks section of Levittown, PA from 1959 until 1985 when he moved to Port Charlotte and later Bradenton, Florida. He was an active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Levittown.  After moving to Florida he and his wife Nancy completed studies in theology, and were very active in Christian ministry and serving the community at Christian Retreat in Bradenton, Florida. In 2015 he relocated to Falls Township, PA to be with his children. He was much loved by his many brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. His 7 grandchildren, living in the Philadelphia, PA, Bucks County, PA and Hamilton, New Jersey area include Ceilidh and Cianan Madigan, Adrian Taraba, Catherine Taraba, Joanne Taraba, John Taraba and his youngest grandchild George Frederick Taraba. Having relocated to Falls Township George began attending mass with his son and soon after his desire to receive the Eucharist lead him to re-enter the Catholic church. He was much loved by his friends at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Allentown, New Jersey, who miss him and have been offering many prayers for him in these last days.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
