Frank Edwin Bockius

July 31, 1932 — February 22, 2023

Frank Edwin Bockius, 90, died peacefully, at his home with his beloved wife Barbara by his side on February 22, 2023. Frank was born in 1932 in Philadelphia to Frances Catherine (nee Hawkins) and Frank E. Bockius. He was the oldest of their seven children. Frank developed a strong work ethic in his early years working in a donut shop and on local truck farms. The family eventually settled in Quakertown where Frank played football and basketball for Quakertown High School. After graduating in 1950, he attended Drexel University, majoring in Business Administration. While at Drexel he became involved in the ROTC and the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, which he was affiliated with all his adult life. While at Lambda Chi Alpha, Frank sought donations from local businesses to help purchase their fraternity house in Philadelphia. An award in his name is given to a deserving student who goes above and beyond in the community. The Frank Bockius Award was last given in 2019. Frank and Barbara’s son-in-law, Tony, are “brothers” at the same fraternity. Frank continued a life of service to his country and community. He joined the Army, then continued his service, for nine years, in the Army Reserves. His professional business life began as an agent with Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company where he obtained his Chartered Life Underwriters status and other professional certifications. He later created his own agency to best serve the needs of his clients, family, and friends. He retired at age 83. He was twice elected to serve Abington Township as a Republican Committeeman. He voluntarily served many years on the Board of Directors of Deer Meadows Retirement Community (formerly The Baptist Home of Philadelphia) and at each church he attended. Frank also enjoyed years of fellowship with the Christian Men’s Breakfast group and Gracepoint Men’s Bible Study group. Frank was predeceased by his parents and two brothers-in-law (Charles Andres and Gene Bechtel). He is survived by his wife Barbara Nahm Bockius, daughters Lynn Millard (Ted), Terri Kunkler (Jeff), Faith Palumbo, Heather Hoffman (Dennis), along with grandchildren Drew Millard (Michelle), Kyle Millard (Nikkie Castro), Sarah Jaffe (Jason), Daniel Kunkler, Nicholas Palumbo (Alyssa Nanayakkara), along with his six siblings, Ann Andres, James Bockius (Jane), Eleanor Caruso (Mike), Susan Bechtel, David Bockius, Barbara Bockius, and many nieces, nephews, and good friends. Over the years Frank had become close to his wife, Barbara's family. Together they attended many family gatherings and holiday celebrations. Barbara's daughters and their husbands, Jacqueline Hidalgo (Tony) and Elisa Ainscoe (Tim), along with their children, grandchildren and extended family all considered Frank to be a caring and thoughtful man. They will greatly miss his warm smile and kind words. Frank will be missed by everyone he touched. Rest in peace. A visitation and service will be held beginning at 10:00 am, on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Grace Point Church, 592 Washington Crossing Road, Newtown, PA 18940 To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Frank Edwin Bockius, please visit our flower store.
