Florence M. Potena

January 29, 1927 — February 17, 2022

FLORENCE M. POTENA (NEE GRZESNIKOWSKI)

The Beautiful wife of the late Joseph Potena a WW II Marine Veteran, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the age of 95. Florence died peacefully surrounded by her loving and caring family at her side as she entered the Lord’s Paradise. She will be greatly missed by all those whom she has touched and impacted throughout all these years. Florence was always dignified in life and remained most gracious in death.

Florence was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Croydon, PA before relocating to Bristol Township after her marriage to her loving husband Joseph of 67 years.

Florence’s love for and pride of her family and extended family was truly an “unconditional love”. She was both a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Babcia, Aunt and especially a friend to all her siblings. She was always there to lend a helping hand and to provide guidance and wisdom throughout life’s journey. Her unselfishness as a Mother and provider embodied the true meaning of “Family.”

Florence was an employee of the Bristol Township school district for many years and held additional positions with various local companies. Florence always had a passion for reading a good book, sometimes a book a week and knew that reading would keep her mind sharp, and it did. She would also read the contents of entire newspapers daily. She enjoyed her conversations with family, recounting humorous stories of her up bring throughout her life, and the total control of her day-to-day decisions was truly amazing.

Her most enjoyable and happy moments were the frequent visits of her children, grandchildren, and especially her great grandchildren. She was most proud and grateful to be able to witness their growth from birth into their formative years.

She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Felicia Grzesnikowski and recently by her loving husband, Joseph Potena. Also predeceased by her many siblings, three brothers Eugene, Chester, and Marion Grzesnikowski; four sisters Mary Wilga, Helen Grzesnikowski, Josephine McKenna, and Laura Ball.

Florence is survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph (Virginia) Potena, Karen (Robert) Nejman and Brian M. Potena. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren and their spouses, Alyssa (Antonio) Pandolfi, Ashley (Christopher) O’Neill, Joseph A. (Kayla) Potena, and Christian J. Potena. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Angelina and Valentina Pandolfi, Madison and Carter O’Neill, Vienna, Joseph (Joe Joe) and Niko Potena and many loving nieces and nephews and her loving caregiver Helena.

Family and friends are invited to attend Florence’s life celebration on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 10:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M.at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 225 Bellevue Ave, Penndel, PA. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow promptly at 1:30 P.M. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA.

Our family is forever grateful for enjoying Mom for so many years. She brought Serenity to our world…Peace to our mind…Hope to our life…Love into our heart…and most importantly taught us all to never take any day from God for granted.
