Elsie Mae Strachan

Elsie M. Strachan of Newtown, PA and formerly of Levittown, PA passed away peacefully on February 5, 2023, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA.  She was 93 years old.  Born in Ellsworth, PA and educated in Portage, PA, Elsie was the second daughter of the late Homer and Alice (Ray) Leichliter.  Elsie was married to George L. Strachan, Jr. and was devoted to her family.  She performed the herculean task of loving and supporting them while maintaining her home and enjoying a successful career at Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ.  Elsie treasured the love of her children, George III (Ann), Candice Ponzurick, Philip (Cathy) and daughter-in-law Susan.  Being the grandmother of Lauren, Jill, Jack, Matthew, Stephanie, Brian and Kelly and the great grandmother of George, Lana, Henry, Enzo, Demi, Sarah, Dayton, Jax and William were roles she wore gracefully and lovingly.  She is survived by her sister, Marietta, her brother, Gordon, and many nieces and nephews.  Elsie was predeceased by her husband, George, Jr., her son, William, and her grandson, George IV.

An original Levittowner, Elsie grew there as a person and used her new home and surroundings as a foundation for herself and her family, a foundation that proved to be strong and lasting.  She enjoyed reading and loved the Phillies.  Last year’s World Series was an unexpected and wonderful surprise for her.

Elsie will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew and loved her.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
