Edward Raymond Pollock

August 6, 1921 — January 12, 2019

Edward Raymond Pollock, 97, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Juniper Village of Bucks County in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

Edward was born August 6, 1921, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  After graduating from Atlantic City High School, he obtained a Bachelor's degree from Penn State University.  While there, he had the unique honor of being the first underclassman to serve as president of both the Blue Band and the Penn State Orchestra at the same time.  It was also at Penn State that he met Dorothy (Day) Young, who predeceased him.  They were married for 69 years and resided in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, for over 60 years.

Edward proudly served as a Marine in the Pacific during WWII.  He later continued serving our country in the Marine Corps Reserve, ultimately achieving the rank of Captain.

Following in his parents' footsteps, Edward began his career in hotel management.  He eventually decided to enter the business world, where he became a successful salesman designing business forms.  He retired at the age of 79 but often commented that he would still prefer to be working.  He and Day traveled extensively both before and after his retirement.

Edward is survived by three daughters:  Sandra Salopek (David) of Medina, Ohio; Beverly Sweet (James) of Wellsville, New York; Pamela Lanzendorfer (Daniel) of Furlong, Pennsylvania; and two grandsons, Brian Sweet, currently living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Kevin Sweet of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Music was always an integral part of Ed's life.  He was an active member of the Tri-County Band for 62 years.  He played his last concert five weeks before he passed away.  He enjoyed not only making music but also the many friendships he developed with his fellow musicians.  For many years he also played with the Old Comrades Band and at one point was the conductor of the Jesse Soby American Legion Post Band in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.

Edward's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Linda Hein for her years of dedication and innumerable acts of kindness.  Edward looked forward to her daily visits and their competitive games of cribbage.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Juniper Village for the compassionate and professional care he received during his stay at the community.

Because of his passion for music, the family is having a memorial concert to honor Edward on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. at the North and Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Road, Churchville, Pennsylvania.

The family suggests donations may be made to the Tri-County Band, 403 Elmwood Avenue, Feasterville, PA, 19053.
