Dominick "Toby" Oriolo

February 10, 1928 — July 20, 2021

Dominick “Toby” Oriolo, age 93, lifelong resident of Bristol Borough, passed away on July 20, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Bristol Borough, Toby was a 2-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served 18 months in the Pacific at the end of World War II. He was a 40-year employee of Rohm and Haas Co. working in the Corporate Engineering Division in Bristol as a piping designer and then in the Planning and Scheduling Dept. On retirement he was the Lead Planner and Scheduler for all of the Division, however, upon retirement he continued working for the Engineering Division as a consultant. Toby was a well-known area athlete having won numerous awards in many sports. He played baseball and basketball for the Naval Operating Base while on Guam in the Pacific. At home played for St. Ann’s Athletic Club, Franklin Athletic Club and Rohm and Haas Athletic Teams. One of his many awards was named basketball coach of the year in 1956 leading the Rohm and Haas Basketball Team to the championship in the then Bristol Semi-Pro Basketball League and was the batting champion in the Bristol Fast Pitch Softball League the same year with an average of .456. Later that year he ended his playing career by severely breaking his right ankle playing basketball for Rohm and Haas. He attended St. Ann Catholic School and upon finishing 8th grade transferred to Bristol High School and was a graduate of the 1945 class of Bristol High. Having participated in four sports he was inducted into the Bristol High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991. He was also an avid bowler and golfer, once recording an official hole in one at The Rancocas Golf Course. He was an active member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Bristol. He first served as an Altar Boy then as Usher for many years and was an original member of the Pastoral Council. Currently is a member of St. Mark Catholic Parish in Bristol Was a founding father of the Bristol Alumni Athletic Association and served as its Secretary for many years. Proceeded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Grace (Cataline) Oriolo. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Julia (Sallustio) Oriolo, daughter Donna Lee Oriolo and her companion Chuck Mitchell, grandchildren, Morris Licciardello Jr. and his wife Shannon and Julia Licciardello and her companion Chuck Palmer and great grandchildren, whom he adored dearly, Carys and Dominick Licciardello and Joseph, Grace and Ashlyn McEwing. Sisters, Lucille Kelso and her husband Frank of Langhorne and Michele St. Clare of Philadelphia and her companion Vincent Lamana and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins’ ad many special friends and neighbors. Family and friends are invited to gather Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 9 – 10:30 am at St Ann Church, 357 Dorrance Street, Bristol, PA 19007. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 am. Interment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Ann Catholic Church, 1025 Radcliffe Street, Bristol, PA 19007.
