Bong Sub Chang

Bong Sub Chang, born on June 13, 1945, in South Korea, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Wayne Center in Wayne, PA, surrounded by his loved ones.

Bong was a devoted husband to his beloved spouse, Myung Sook Chang. He was also a proud father to his children, Daniel Chang and Eric Chang, and grandchildren Jasmine, Jayden, Franklin, Olivia and Conor. His family was a cornerstone of his life, and he cherished the time spent with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Se Wong and Ok Joon Chang, and his beloved first wife, Marcia Chang, mother of his two sons.

Bong immigrated to the United States over 50 years ago, after serving in the South Korean military to seek a better life. He resided in Philadelphia and joined the Teamsters Local Union, working as an industrial machine operator at Kurtz-Hastings. Bong enjoyed weekends golfing with friends and treasured the opportunity to reconnect with past acquaintances from South Korea over the years, each sharing the same dream of immigrating to the United States. He prioritized working hard to bring additional family members over from South Korea. Bong and Marcia enjoyed many years together traveling the United States with their young sons on road trips. After Marcia's passing, Bong met Myung in South Korea, and they began a life together as entrepreneurs of a donut shop in North Philadelphia, where they met many Korean American business owners who formed a tight knit community along North 5th Street. In adoration of his Grandchildren, Bong embraced the time he had in retirement to assist in caring for them, bringing both he and Myung immense joy and love.

Bong's life will be honored through a series of services at Galzerano Funeral Home in Levittown, Pennsylvania. A viewing will take place on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Words of Remembrance beginning at 11:00 AM. The burial service will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.

He will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to his family. Bong leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
