Professor Baldev Kumar Vaid

Professor Baldev Kumar Vaid passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at the age of 88 surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by leading their lives with kindness.

Professor B K Vaid grew up in Jammu and completed his Bachelor of Arts and Mathematics at G.G.M. Science College and obtained a PhD in mathematics from Delhi University. He shared his passion for education and mathematics by teaching for over 40 years where he inspired thousands of students. He also wrote two publications on integral equations and published many textbooks on the topics of differential equations, statistics and probability.

Family and friends will remember fondly Professor Vaid's no nonsense approach to education, his meticulous nature, his love for evening walks, his sweet tooth, his passion for politics, and his appreciation for routine. He was also unmatched in his commitment to upholding his morals and principles. He was a fair and pragmatic person who never compromised his beliefs and was unafraid to stand up for his values. He was undeniably selfless and put the interests of others, especially his family, over his own. All his actions were performed with consideration for benefiting his loved ones and for providing the maximum comfort and success for them.

He is survived by his loving wife Shakuntula Vaid; his children Anju Mahajan (and husband Harish Chander), Vandana Anand (and husband Deepak Anand); grandchildren Aakriti Mandhle (and husband Sacheev Mandhle), Shreya Mahajan, Anmol Anand (and wife Sejal Kumar), Alyssa Anand.

Services will be held at Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol - Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057 on Tuesday, January 28, 2024 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. US EST time
