Anthony James Barruzza, Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that the Barruzza family announce the passing of Anthony James Barruzza Sr., our much loved father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. Tony passed in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 9th, 2019 from complications related to cancer. Born on February 15th, 1943, he was preceded in death by father Carmen Barruzza, mother Christine Barruzza (nee Pirolli), and wife of 53 years, Irma Barruzza (nee Hellings). He is survived by brother Michael (Victoria), niece Diane (John), sons William (Robin), Carmen, John (Veronica), and Anthony Jr (Jennifer), as well as grandchildren William Jr, Brian, Kiley, Anthony III, and Benjamin. Known as “Pop-pop Firetruck” to his grandchildren, Tony was a proud Life Member, past Trustee, and Chief Engineer of the Newport Fire Company for 37 years, and trained many of the members to drive the fire engines. He was also an ardent member of the Gibson Road Antique Fire Truck Club, member of the Falls Township Rifle and Pistol Association, as well as an NRA Life Member. In addition to the accomplishments mentioned previously, he was also the proprietor of Central Supply Co., and could be found there seven days a week, rain or shine, ready to help his customers. In his downtime, he enjoyed working on his yard, visiting the beach, deer hunting, and never missed a Sunday brunch with his granddaughter. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 15th from 6:00 – 9:00 and Saturday, March 16th from 9:00 – 10:30 at Galzerano Funeral Home: 430 Radcliffe St, Bristol, PA 19007. Services will be held at Galzerano Funeral Home on Saturday March 16th at 10:30, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery: 5201 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Newport Fire Company: 5961 Bensalem Blvd, Bensalem, PA 19020.
