Alfred J. Schmidt of Levittown, PA suddenly passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024. He was 84. Beloved husband of Lorraine M. (Sacro) Schmidt. Survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
Al was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 2, 1940. He attended St. Timothy Parochial School and Father Judge High School. Al joined the Philadelphia Police Department in 1959. He left the force as a Corporal in 1968. In 1971, along with his partner, opened Just Jazz Night Club. The club featured such acts as Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton, and George Benson. The club closed in 1977. Al started a new career in the Wine and Spirits Industry as a salesman for Fedway Corp and Allied Beverage, both in New Jersey. Being in this industry allowed him to make many friends and associates. He retired in 2012.
Al loved playing golf and especially enjoyed his golf trips to Ocean City, MD with his friends John and Buddy. He loved the excitement of casinos. His other interests were vacationing and cruising with Lorraine, family, and friends.
Everyone loved Al with his gregarious personality. He loved being the life of the party, spreading his jokes around. Boy did he love to dance! Simply put, Al loved life
The services to honor Al’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Galzerano Funeral Home in Levittown, PA, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
