John “Brownie” Cordisco, age 87, of Bristol Boro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Bristol Boro, John was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Levittown. He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran who served on Iwo Jimo in the Pacific theatre. He was a member of the 5th Ward Italian Mutual Aid, American Legion Bracken Post, the Golden Marks, and the Lower Bucks Activity Center. In his youth, John was an outstanding 1st baseman and played for various area teams, including Kaisers and St. Ann’s Athletic Association. In his retirement, he loved playing golf with his friends, traveling abroad with his wife, and trips with his family to the Jersey shore. He was predeceased by his parents Nicolo and Adeline (nee: Liberatore) Cordisco; a sister Stella; and a brother Angelo ”Lodgey." He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years Mary (nee: Costantini); his children Nicholas Cordisco and his wife Karen of Medford, NJ, and Nancy Brown and her husband Dennis of Yardley, PA; and his adoring grandchildren Meredith Cordisco Nowak and her husband Alex, and Stephanie Brown and Nicholas Brown. He is also survived by his brother Andrew and his wife Margaret Cordisco of Burlington, NJ; and sister-in-law Gloria Cordisco; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, 11am-12:30pm, at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 430 Radcliffe Street in Bristol Boro. Funeral mass will begin 1pm at St. Ann Church. Interment will follow in St. Mark Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the wonderful professional people at Odyssey Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
