Charles H. Kohler Sr., age 87, of Crescent City, FL, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palataka, FL. Born and raised in Bristol Borough, he resided in the Bristol-Morrisville area for many years before moving to Florida in 1982. He was employed at Farruggio’s Trucking for many years before founding Charles H. Kohler Trucking. Later, he worked for Warner Continental & Halls Trucking until his retirement in 1982. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and saw action in Guadal Canal, Iwo Jima, and other islands in the Pacific theatre. In his youth, Mr. Kohler played semi-pro baseball for many area leagues. More recently, he enjoyed boating on the Delaware, traveling in his camper, summers at Penn Warner Lake and smoking cigars. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion #960, the Moose Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4355 and the Marine League. He was predeceased in death by his brothers Joe, Mag, Stan and Ed; and sisters Theresa Fordham and Dot Scheese. He is survived by his wife of 13 years Jane (nee: Steward). He is missed by his children Charlotte Willis (John) of Levittown, Charles Kohler (Marion) of Bristol, Andy Kohler of Penndel, Kathleen Kohler of Hamilton Twp., NJ, Brian C. Kohler (Emma) of Bordentown Twp., NJ, Elizabeth Kohler of Morrisville, and Richard Kohler of Flagler Beach, FL; his step-children Linda Gartner (Tim), Ken Bruno (Katie), and Nancy Hallman (Larry); and his 15 adoring grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Ellen Waldron of Bristol and Anna Mae Haman of Levittown. Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday, 7-9pm, and Tuesday, 9am, at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, where funeral services will begin at 10am. Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Veterans Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
