Glen Good

d. March 20, 2010

Glen G. Good passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at St. Mary Hospital in Langhorne, surrounded by his loving family. He was 88. He was born in Brookline, Mass., and lived in Boston, where he was attending college when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Glen served as staff sergeant in combat communications in such notable battles as Kwajalein, Saipan, and Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Purple Heart twice and served until the end of the war, after which he met and married Ruth L. Timson of Lynn, Mass. Together they raised a family in Reading, Mass., and then moved to Yardley in 1966. Mr. Good was in sales management in industrial rubber products for his entire business career, and retired as senior vice president at Briggs Rubber Co. of New Castle, Del. Glen was an avid fan of classical and jazz music and was a self-taught pianist; he most enjoyed taking in concerts and performances and enjoyed following sports at both the national and local levels. He cherished time spent with his mother and brothers at their cottage by Cape Cod. He loved the movies and could recite scores of cast members by virtue of an impressive memory. He read the daily newspaper front to back and capped it off with the crossword. Though he would feign annoyance at animals underfoot at home, Glen had a real soft spot for the family pets. He will be remembered affectionately not only for the humor, warmth, intelligence, and dignity evident to all, but also for an abiding devotion to his wife, children and family members, his deep faith, and his concern for those less fortunate. Mr. Good was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his son, Brian, three brothers and two sisters. He will be greatly missed by his children, Frances and Warren, his brother Kenneth, his sister-in-law, Natalie Timson, his grandchildren, Tara Morgan and Brian Michael Good, his four great-grandchildren, and his beloved nieces and nephews. A private service will be held at Galzerano Funeral Home in Levittown, and burial will take place at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Free Home for Incurable Cancer, 1315 W. Hunting Park Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19140.
