Richard L. Rodgers

Richard L. Rodgers, age 69, was received into his Maker’s hands on Friday, December 4, 2009, after passing away peacefully in his sleep. Richard was a long time resident of New Jersey. Born and raised in Woodbridge, NJ, he raised his own family in Rahway, NJ. He was a Vietnam veteran and a New York and New Jersey Police Officer for 20 years. He served his country and community with great pride and commitment. Richard was a kind and loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He always had a hand to lend and a joke to tell. He was gentle and considerate to all who knew and loved him, and he possessed a great ability to calm and soothe all of God’s creatures by his presence; affirming the innocence and purity of his heart and soul. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lillian Rodgers; and his brother Frank. Richard leaves behind his 2 children Cheril Rodgers, and Richard Rodgers and his fiancé Tracy Lockwood; his grandson Tommy; his sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Steve Gajewski; his former wife Joellen Rodgers; his long-time companion Jane Aliberto; and all of his beloved family pets. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service on Thursday, 1pm, at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Arneytown, NJ. Burial will follow at the cemetery. The family requests memorial donations be made in his memory to Galzerano Funeral Home, 430 Radcliffe Street, Bristol, PA 19007.
