Leonard M Pokalsky

Leonard Michael Pokalsky, 84, died peacefully at home on September 27, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife, Eugenia Mae (nee Combee) Pokalsky. Leonard was born in Scranton, PA, where he was one of the five children of Peter and Magdalena (nee Novitsky) Pokalsky: Peter (Evelyn), Michael (Barbara), and pre-deceased by Lillian and Marion (Vincent Bonaccorso). He ran the family farm in Nicholson, PA until joining the U.S. Air Force in 1954. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt and assigned as a pilot flying the KC 97 Refueler for the Eighth Air Force out of Savannah, GA. This is where he met and married Eugenia. He resigned his commission as a 1st Lt at McGuire Air Force Base, NJ. Leonard and Eugenia moved to Twin Oaks in 1965 where they raised their 6 children: MSgt Teresa Browndorf USMC (ret.) (Matthew), Mark Pokalsky, Dr. Christine Pokalsky (Keith Grinstead), Katherine Maughan (Richard), Lisa Pokalsky, and Timothy Pokalsky (Sheryl nee Doneker) He was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Margaret (Megan) Browndorf, Jacob Maughan, Kevin Grinstead, and Andrew, Sean and Nate Pokalsky. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, October 2nd from 6-8 pm at Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057 and 9:30 am Tuesday morning at Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056 immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
