A memorial service will be held for Violet Devlin, Saturday, October 21, 2017, 11:00 AM, Falls Friends Meetinghouse in Historic Fallsington, 9300 New Falls Road, Levittown, PA 19054. She passed away peacefully on August 7, 2017, at Chandler Hall in Newtown, PA. She was 95. Born in Croatia, she came to the U.S. as a child and was raised in the Bronx, New York City. After marrying she was among the first home buyers in newly built Levittown, PA and remained a resident of Bucks County for over 65 years. After many years as a homemaker, she completed a Masters Degree and became a reference librarian at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ for over 20 years. Violet had a keen interest in helping Croatian immigrants and war victims. She was also devoted to her Quaker religion and her beloved place of worship in Fallsington. She enjoyed reading books on spiritual topics, history, biography and social justice. She also enjoyed playing word games and listening to classical music. She was an avid correspondent, always staying in contact with relatives and friends near and far. She was predeceased by former husband Daniel and daughter Nancy. She is survived by son Robert (Susan), grandson Shawn (Michelle), son Steven (Karen) granddaughters Marie and Kristin, and five great grandchildren, also dear friend Sandy Otis. Memorial contributions may be made to the service arm of the the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers):  American Friends Service Committee, AFSC Development, 1501 Cherry St., Philadelphia, PA  19102.
