Joseph J Staffieri

September 29, 1944 — July 13, 2017

Joseph J. Staffieri “Big Joe” Joseph J. Staffieri at age 72 sadly and suddenly went home to his beloved mother Lillian on July 13, 2017. “Big Joe” as he was called by all who knew him was born and raised in Philadelphia, and attended Cardinal Dougherty High School. After graduating, and a tour in the U. S. Army Reserves, he went to work for Rorer Pharmaceutical Company, where he met and courted his future wife, and mother of his children, Patricia A. Staffieri (nee Landis), who proceeded him in death in 2004. Big Joe had a passion for cars and spent most of his life in the automotive industry. Indeed, he changed the auto body business landscape in the Lower Bucks area with his involvement by growing such businesses as John Beck’s Auto Body and Rob’s Automotive before founding Phoenix Collision of Newportville in 2008. As his moniker implies, at 6 foot 6, he was a formidable man, but was always able to put others at ease with his charm. And while a stern father (and always the transportation enthusiast), he was known to surprise his children with gifts of new bicycles and eventually cars. As those who knew him well, he also had a bit of the devil in him and would often play practical jokes like bursting in the door wearing scary masks. A generous man, he was very involved in the Exchange Club of Bristol and had a habit of helping others in their greatest times of need. This was a part of himself that he kept private and the recipients of his kindness were often surprised and unaware. He will be terribly missed by his beloved daughter Maria P. Staffieri Ford, his daughter Nicole L. Staffieri Moore, his children Robert C. Wintersteen, Jr. and his fiancés Dawn M. Williams, and Kimberly A. Crookham (nee Wintersteen) and her husband Bruce Crookham. He will also be very missed by his two sons-in-law Andrew L. Ford and Kenneth G Moore II, whom he grew quite fond of over the years despite never having the chance to take them hunting. ‘Big Pap Pap,” as he was called by his grandchildren will be greatly missed by his only grandson K. Garrison Moore III, of whom he was so proud, and his three beautiful granddaughters, Laura Pearl Barnett, Gabriella M. Moore and Fiona A. Ford. And Big Pap Pap was so happy to have been able to meet his only great-grandson, Landes Barnett Harbaugh, of whom he remarked, “I have shoes bigger than him!” And finally, Big Joe will be dearly missed by his namesake and grand dog, Jojo. Big Joe will be sadly missed by his best friend and companion, Susan Orbin of Levittown. It is said that old soldiers don’t die they just fade away, Big Joe will never fade away in the hearts of all who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 6 – 8 pm and again Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 9 - 10 am at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol – Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
