Florence P Bartal

Florence P. Bartal, age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, surrounded by her family. Born on May 21, 1924, Florence grew up in Summit Hill, PA, and graduated from Summit Hill High School in 1942. She was employed at Woodrow Wilson High School, and later was the Cafeteria Manager of Maple Shade Elementary School until her retirement. She had many interests, including cooking and crocheting; but most of all she relished her Thursday afternoon Senior Citizen “meetings” at St. Thomas Aquinas Church where she could be found playing Pinochle for hours on end. She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Tony Bartal. Florence is survived by her son Dennis Bartal and his wife Karen, and daughter Donna Kahhan and her husband Jeff; her grandchildren Christopher Harkins (Elizabeth), Patrick Bartal (Eunmi), Amy Desmond (Daniel), Justin Kahhan, and Alanna and Lauren Kahhan; and her great grandchildren Nicolina and Ellianna Harkins, and Taylor and Brynn Desmond. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, March 4th, 9am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Croydon, PA, where a Funeral Mass will begin at 10am. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Penndel, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Florence’s name to St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 126 Walnut Ave., Croydon, PA 19021.
