Emma Pica, nee Fanini, a 64-year resident of Levittown, died peacefully on January 13th at Aria Hospital in Fairless Hills, surrounded by her children and their families. Born October 4, 1923 in Bristol Pennsylvania, she married the love of her life Louis Pica one day after her 18th birthday, just before he went off to WWII. After the war Emma and Louis resided in Bristol until moving to Levittown in 1952. Emma was a cancer survivor, losing her right eye in an operation in 1977, but she was never one to complain, and was always more concerned for others than herself. She was devoted to her family, and throughout her life made sacrifices to assure their happiness and success. Aside from her family, Emma’s passion in life was cooking. She was happiest in the kitchen, and viewed food as a way of sharing love and tradition with her family and friends. Her authentic Italian meals and personal recipes will live on as they are passed down from generation to generation. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis “Jeeps” Pica, son Louis Pica Jr., father Giuseppe Fanini, mother Giulia Pezzoli, sister Filomena “Fanny”, brothers Vincenzo “Jimmy”, Frederico “Freddy”, and Ugo “Gene” Fanini. The memory of Emma, our cherished mother, will be forever in the hearts of all those she touched during her wonderful life. She is survived by her sisters Ada “Dolly” Conoline and Noreen Conoline, daughter Joanne Pica Zinski, sons Joseph and Gary Pica, and 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The most important thing in Emma’s life was family. She was a caregiver first and foremost. The love she exuded will carry on in the hearts of all her relatives, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Emma was thoughtful and caring to every person she met. If she had one wish for the world, it would be for everyone to be kinder to one another. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, acceptance, and love for everyone who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday evening, January 16, 2017, 6:00 – 8:00 PM and again Tuesday morning 8:30 – 9:15 am at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol – Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057. Please join us in celebrating Emma’s life on Tuesday, January 17th at St. Ann Church, 357 Dorrance Street, Bristol, PA. Mass will be celebrated at 10AM followed by a burial at St. Mark’s Cemetery.
