Irma L Barruzza

Irma L. Barruzza left this world of pain and suffering on July 23, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Morrisville, PA and attended Morrisville schools. She worked at many occupations including waitressing, transportation coordinator at Bucks County Head Start, Bensalem School District Crossing Guard and an executive of a private ambulance service. During her working career she always was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her all-time favorite of her careers was in 1979 when she joined Newport Fire Company which was one of the pioneers of welcoming women fire fighters, she quickly went thru the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, Vice President, Secretary, President, Life Member (secretary/treasurer thru June 2016) and for about fifteen years was also secretary/treasurer of the Bensalem Township Association of Fire Companies. She was also active in dog rescues and finding and giving homes to countless dogs. Preceded in death by her father Charles Hellings, Sr, mother Mae Hellings and brother Charles Hellings, Jr. Survived by her husband of 54 years, Tony Sr., sons William (Robin), Carmen, John (Veronica), Tony Jr. (Jennifer). Grand children, Rachel, Kiley, Tony III, Ben, Brian, William and five great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 26th, 2016 from 7-9pm and again on Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 10:30am at the Galzerano Funeral Home 3500 Bristol – Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057. Funeral service will be celebrated 10:30am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
