Henry E Baer

Henry Ernest Baer passed away at the age of 93 on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Wood River Village in Bensalem, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Albany, New York. After serving in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946 as a Pharmacist’s Mate First Class he returned to Albany. Shortly after returning he met Jeanne Ruth Krapf and they were married in 1949. After starting their family in Albany, they moved to Levittown as one of the original residents. Henry worked for American Meter Company in Albany and Philadelphia as a draftsman/product designer for 40 years. Henry was self-taught in chair caning and rushing and enjoyed refinishing old chairs. After he retired from American Meter he used this skill as volunteer at Pennsbury Manor, the restored summer home of William Penn, where he demonstrated the art of chair caning. He was a volunteer at Pennsbury Manor for about 25 years. He was a long-time member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Levittown. Henry was a Mason for over 65 years and was a member Mount Vernon Lodge 3 in Albany, NY, and Lodge 9 in Philadelphia. Henry was predeceased by his wife Jeanne; his parents, Henry and Gertrude Baer; and his brother Richard. He will be greatly missed by his children, George Baer and his wife Renee of Katy, TX, and Janice Siesser and her husband Louis of Holland, PA. He is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer, Melissa, and Nicholas, and great grandchildren Conner, Aubyn, Grant, and Collin. He also shared a loving relationship with his niece Diane Place and her family, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to his memorial service on Saturday, June 25, at Emmaus Road Lutheran Church, 2185 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and the memorial service will begin at 10:00 am. Private interment will occur at Washington Crossing National Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Emmaus Road Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, 2185 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057 or Wood River Village, Fellowship Fund for Wood River Village, Attn: Mabel Turner, 3200 Bensalem Boulevard, Bensalem, PA 19020.
