Ben Bussey, Sr.

March 6, 1928 — November 17, 2015

Elder Bussey is the son of the late Jackson and Ada Bussey. Elder Bussey was educated in Coffee County, Douglas, GA. Elder Bussey worked 42 years at the Local 542 as an Operating Engineer, after which he gracefully retired. Elder Bussey met and married Evelyn Comer for 62 years. Of this union 6 of the 9 children have survived. Elder Bussey accepted the Lord in 1960; at Deliverance Church in Philadelphia, under the guidance of Bishop Benjamin Smith. Elder Bussey answered the call of Pastorship. He was the pastor of the House of Prayer for 4 years located in Levittown, PA. He also pastored at New Beginnings for 7 years located in Bristol, PA. Elder Bussey loved sharing the Word of God with everyone. When he wasn’t sharing the gospel or working; he enjoyed fishing, gardening and visiting the sick. Elder Bussey enjoyed his family time and the many laughs they shared together. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Jackson, Robert, Sanfus, William and Charles. His sisters: Martha, Mami and Sannie. He leaves behind to cherish his memories: Evelyn Bussey (wife), his children: Van of Philadelphia, Arlene (Everett Kelly) of Trenton, Ben Jr of Morrisville, Irene of Bristol, Sharlene of Morrisville and Lionel. Seven grandchildren: Joeshae, Van Jr., Wendell, Sharnell, Shevin, Arvette and Autumn. One great grandchild: Earl. Sister: Minnie Sutton. Sister-in-laws: Caroline Bussey, Willie Mae (John Johnson). In-laws included: Wilbert (Ophelia Smith), J.C. Smith, Naomi (Matthew flowers), Jimmy Lee (Annette Smith) and Rubie Batts. Two very special Friends: Norman McDuffie and Wilbert Smith, Sr. Elder Bussey leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish the fond memories. Relatives and Friends are invited to call on November 24, 2015 from 9:00-10:00 am at the Galzerano Funeral Home 3500 Bristol-Oxford Valley Rd Levittown Pa 19057.
