Stephen J. Nelson

May 24, 1960 — August 22, 2015

Stephen J. Nelson "Steve", age 55, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2015. Born in East Orange, NJ, he was a long-time resident of Tullytown having lived in both Levittown and Bristol. He graduated from Delhaas High School in 1979 and took various business management courses at Bucks County Community College. While in high school, he was on both the wrestling team and the football team proudly wearing the #64 football jersey. After graduating, he was employed with a variety of local companies: Nabisco (Philadelphia) as a Production Lineman; Robern (Bristol) as a Maintenance Manager; Ferag, Inc. (Bristol), holding several positions - Assembly Mechanic, Production Manager and Control/Purchasing Manager; Craft-Bilt (Souderton) as a Production Supervisor; General Doors (Bristol) as a Track Department Supervisor; Snappy (Philadelphia) as a Maintenance Technician; and most recently with Euramax International (Berger Building Products, Inc., Feasterville) as their Production Supervisor. Steve was a member of the Penn Warner Club in Tullytown and was most passionate about bass fishing; placing and winning in various fishing tournaments. He loved taking his Skeeter bass boat out on the Delaware River for both fishing and recreational boating activities with family and friends. Steve's enthusiasm for riding was evident as he proudly owned and rode with great joy his 1984 Kawasaki Ninja GPZ 900 motorcycle restored to mint condition. He recently enjoyed riding with a local riding club. He thoroughly enjoyed sports and bantered tirelessly about the Eagles games with his brother, Herb from Chicago, an avid Bears fan. For those who knew him, he had a heart of gold and would go to the ends of the earth to help a friend in need. He had a smile that could light up the night sky and was outgoing, charismatic, and a wonderful human being. He is preceded in death by his mother, June, and his father, Herb. Steve is survived by his siblings and many nieces and nephews. Steve will be sadly missed by his family; Sue Motkowski, Linda Croce (Mike), Barbara Diamond (Billy), and Herb Nelson (Sue) as well as his long-time friends, Mary Cruz and Loretta Nelson. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 6pm-8pm, Friday, August 28, at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA. Funeral service will begin at 8pm. Interment will be held on Saturday, August 29, at 10am at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Rd., in Toms River, NJ (732-255-1870), in the Garden of Christus where his beloved grandparents, Herman and Edith Nelson are buried.
