Philip Volponi

November 3, 1927 — January 10, 2015

Philip Volponi passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Chandler Hall surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 3, 1927 in Bristol where he remained a lifelong resident. He worked for Manhattan Soap, Purex Corp, and Dial Corp for 46 years until retiring on February 21, 1990. Philip was an avid golfer and bowler for many years. He worked as a union advocate and enjoyed traveling across the country with his family and friends. He and his wife loved visiting Las Vegas where they went continuously for 35 years. Philip was preceded in death by his mother Ida (nee: Yaniero) and father Henry; as well as his sister Phyllis Volponi. He is survived by his loving wife, of 61 years, Yolanda (nee: Pirri) Volponi; his daughter Valerie Tyrell (David Tyrell); his son Philip Volponi (Cheryl Volponi); and his grandchildren David Tyrell, Philip Volponi, Stephanie McVey, and Mary Volponi. Phil leaves behind 5 precious great grandchildren in which “he loved to the ends of the earth”! He is also survived by his brothers Joseph Volponi (Shirley) and Richard Volponi (Lori Falcone); his sister Joan Giampico; and many family and friends who were always there for him. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, 7pm-9pm, and Friday, 8am-9:15am, at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol Oxford Valley Road in Levittown. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am at St. Ann Church. Interment will follow in St. Mark Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions to benefit Mary Volponi and Michalena Pirri at Delta Community Center be made to: Galzerano Funeral Home, 430 Radcliffe Street, Bristol, PA 19007.
