Claire Riddle

Claire Marie Gerrity Riddle, born Feb. 26, 1926 in the family home in Scranton, PA, to Lauretta May Gerrity and William Gerrity, passed away at age 88 on Christmas morning, Dec. 26, 2014. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband William C. Riddle; 3 sisters and 8 brothers, 2 sons, and a son-in-law Robert Mather. Claire and her husband were original Levittowners, living in North Park until her death. They were founding members of St. Joseph the Worker Church in Fallsington, PA, and Claire was a member of the Ladies Sodality and worked in the kitchen during bingo. She was a member of Falls Township Seniors, and enjoyed trips to the casinos with her friends Jean and Joanie, sisters Estelle and Kate, and nieces Claire and Cathy. She crocheted many blankets and was an avid reader. Claire will be greatly missed by her daughter Margaret F. Riddle (David Mellors); son John F. Riddle and his wife Margaret Brennan Riddle and their sons John and Gabriel; sister-in-law Sharon Moran Riddle and her sons Nicholas and Zachary; and sister Estelle Gerrity Flynn and her husband Francis Flynn. She was caring and devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by all. She was especially devoted to her grandsons John, Gabriel, Nicholas, and Zachary. We are comforted thinking of Claire in heaven dancing with Bill to the music of the family band: her dad Will on drums, mother Lauretta on piano, sisters Alice and Florence on piano, sister Kate on accordion, and brothers Fran, Bill, Walter, Eddie, and John taking turns on banjos, guitars and piano. Brothers Joseph and Robert danced along while brother Tom joined them in song, along with sons Bill and Tom singing tenor. Family and friends may attend her Funeral Mass, 10am, on Friday, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, New Falls Rd., Levittown. Interment will be held at a later date.
