James Parto

April 10, 1920 — June 25, 2014

James Parto of Levittown, PA, passed away at his home on June 25, 2014. He was 94. He was a former Justice of the Peace in Tullytown Borough for 18 years; and proudly served his community and the county of Bucks as a fair and honest Judge. He received certificates after completing years at the Magistrates School by the Commonwealth of PA. As a veteran of WWII with 28 months of service in the South Pacific Theatre of operations as a member of the U.S. Army with the 37th Division, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Jim retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542 where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, a member of the PA and Bucks County Magistrates Association, former member of the Italian American Club of Morrisville, the Sons of Italy, and the Levittown-Fairless Hills Moose Lodge 2006. He also enjoyed his vegetable garden that took up his entire backyard; sharing with family, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Lucy (nee: Marcelli) Parto, and his oldest son James M. Parto. He is survived by his children Beverly Parto, and Patricia Straus and her husband David all of Levittown, and Robert Parto of Feasterville; 4 grandchildren Michael and Nicole Straus, and Nina and Nicholas Parto; and 2 great grandchildren Christian and Sophia Shirk. Jim was the last to pass away out of 10 children born to Guiseppe and Vincenza Parto. His brothers were Gregory, Sebastiano, Frank, Joseph, Salvatore, Charles, and Stephen; and sisters were Minnie, and Lucy. Our Dad and Pop Pop will be greatly missed. He was an inspiration to all of us. Relatives and friends may attend his viewing Sunday, 6pm-8pm, and Monday, 8-9:15am, at Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, Levittown. Funeral Mass will begin 10am on Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
