James Petrino

June 15, 1923 — February 15, 2014

James L. Petrino, age 90, of Bristol, passed away on Sat., February 15, 2014 at Chandler Hall in Newtown surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong Bristol resident. Mr. Petrino was an employee of the former Nowack’s Grocery Store, Danis Delicatessen, and for many years was the sexton for St. Thomas Aquinas Church; and most recently worked for T.J.M. Electronics. He was a proud WWII Navy Veteran, a member of the America Legion, and the V.F.W. Terchon and Billington Posts. He was also a member of the St. Ann Athletic Association and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Petrino was a devoted family man who had a “Heart of Gold”. He loved helping people and served as a poll worker on election days. He enjoyed all sports, including local and professional teams, and loved watching old black and white movies. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Irene (nee: D’Ambrosio) Petrino; his brothers Daniel, Charles, and Michael; and sister Lucy Husvar. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Florence (nee: Nowack); his children Carol Wallace and her husband David, Sharon DeNucci and her husband Robert, and Cheryl Gublo and her husband Jacob; his adoring grandchildren Jaime Konig and husband Rudy, Bobby DeNucci, Steven and David Stoneback, and Michael Gublo; and great grandson Ethan Konig. He is also survived by his siblings Marie Accardi, Irene Monks, Theresa Britton, Sally McMahon, Fred Petrino (Joan), and Dominic Petrino (Wanita); and several nieces, nephews, and good friends, including Honorable Frank Peranteau. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wed., 6pm-9pm, and Thurs., 10:30am-11:45am, at Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol Oxford Valley Road in Levittown. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thurs. 12:30pm, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Croydon. Interment will be conducted privately at Washington Crossing Veterans National Cemetery.
