Dorothy Baker

June 5, 1929 — February 3, 2014

DOROTHY E. BAKER passed away following a brief illness on February 3, 2014. The first of two daughters born to Alexander Ross and Dorothy Macdonald (first generation born immigrants from Isle of Skye, Scotland) on June 5, 1929. Originally from Long Island, NY, Dorothy (nicknamed Dot) moved to Pennsylvania in 1953 and was a proud owner of a “Levittowner” in the Oaktree section. Dorothy, with her husband Cliff, raised four loving children, Barb, Bonnie, Ricky and Robert and spent countless good times with wonderful neighbors. All were cherished memories for her. At the age of 40, Dorothy enrolled in the Tech School to obtain a nursing degree. As an L.P.N. she practiced at Delaware Valley Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Department and then as a school nurse in Bristol Township School District where she cultivated many close friendships. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, movies, and dining out with her dear sister Barbara. They were especially fond of heading to the Finger Lakes in NY to visit with their cousins and heading south to Naples Florida to visit her niece. During these last few years, Dorothy relished playing cards on Mondays with Greta, Grace and Sibie. During her life, Dorothy was a talented seamstress, gardener, an avid reader, and a huge fan of “Downtown Abbey”. She was also a shrewd collector of things antique. She was preceded in death by Clifford R. Baker Sr. and by her grandson, Neil Baker. Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Barbara and William Schellhorn, Bonnijean and Craig Fry, Clifford R. Baker Jr. and Robert and Barbara Baker. Grandchildren: Billy and Tina Schellhorn, Lisa and David Broome, Doreen Baker Turner (Dan Wasser), Jessica Baker, Barbarann and Michael Underwood, Adam Fry, Ross Fry (Mary Dunn), Grace and Michael Nuciglio and Courtney “Jenna” Baker. Great grandchildren; Taylor, Bailey, Peyton, Christian, Olivia, Liam, Jaden, Aubrey, Colin, Jaxon, Michael and Lucus. Relatives and friends are invited to call Sat., 10:30-12 noon at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol Oxford Valley Road in Levittown. Interment will be private. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
