Virginia L. (Hynes) Gaydos went home to God on Wed., April 3, 2013 at Pine Run Health Center with her family by her side. She would have reached her 100th birthday on April 10. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Ellen C. Hardy Hynes and Joseph Aloysius Hynes, and the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Gaydos. Virginia was an original Levittown homeowner. Her family moved from Chicago, IL, to Levittown, Long Island, NY and then to Levittown, PA in 1952. Virginia was a founding parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Levittown. She was an active, devoted church member, who served as President of the Ladies Sodality, St. Michael’s School Council, and Bishop Egan High School’s Ladies Club. In addition, Virginia was the Head of the Bucks County Chapter of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima. As an extremely talented musician and liturgist, Virginia was St. Michael the Archangel’s first organist. During her 27 years of service there, Virginia prepared the music liturgy for all the church’s services. In 1979, Virginia retired to Vero Beach, FL, where she continued as church organist and music liturgist at St. Helen’s Church and Holy Cross Church until she was 90 years old. Her inspiring organ music will long be remembered as transformative and ethereal. Virginia graduated from Bucks County Community College, summa cum laude, with a degree in Music Performance & Music Theory. She studied under David Averre, Jean Phillips and David Sokoloff. Virginia is survived by her children, Paul Gaydos, husband of Diane, of Fremont, OH, Kathleen Sanfillippo, wife of Richard, of Newtown, PA, Jeanne Wallin, wife of Randall, of Dennis, Cape Cod, MA. Family and friends are invited to gather, 9:15-10am, on Monday, April 8, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, PA. A Memorial Mass will begin at 10am.
