Alexander Makaryk

Alexander Makaryk, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2013, at the Silver Lake Nursing Facility. Born and raised in the Ukraine, he immigrated to the United States in 1951; and has resided in Levittown since 1957. He started working for Mr. Levitt installing roofs; and later became a self-employed roofer. Mr. Makaryk was an original member of the St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bristol Twp. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, who was proud of his Ukrainian heritage and attending Ukrainian functions. He was preceded in death by his parents and many of his family members, and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, of 63 years, Kateryna (nee: Boczar). He is the devoted father of Myron Makaryk and his wife Joy, and Nicholas Makaryk; and is also survived by his 3 grandchildren Larissa and her fiancée Frank Leary, Alexander, and Andrew Makaryk; his sister-in-law Stella Wasylkiw; and nieces, nephews, and many good friends. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday, 9:30am, at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol Oxford Valley Road. Funeral liturgy for the repose of his soul will begin at 10am in the funeral home. Interment fill follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Fox Chase, PA.
