Frederick “Fred” M. Allan, age 60, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2012, with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer at St. Mary Medical Center. Born in West Chester and raised in Coatesville, PA, after marrying his wife Francine moved to Yardley, PA. He was a graduate of West Chester University class of 1974 where he received a Master’s Degree in Education, and was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. After college, Fred taught for 11 years in the Coatesville area school district. He was former Assistant Director of Coatesville High School theatre, as well as Assistant Coach for their football and wrestling programs. For the last 30 years he was a Real Estate Broker at Messina Real Estate located in Bristol Borough. He was a proud member of the Bucks County Board of Realtors and a member of the St. Ignatius Knights of Columbus. He was an accomplished member of the Pennsbury Community Chorus and had the distinction of singing at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Fred was a coach and chairperson for the girl’s Softball Division of the Pennsbury Athletic Assoc., and also ran the concession stands for PAA girl’s softball and boy’s baseball. He was St. Ignatius’ CYO girl’s basketball coach. Fred was also a former Lower Makefield township supervisor and was instrumental in acquiring and building the girl’s softball fields of Lower Makefield “complex.” He was the chairperson of Christine McCaffrey Emergency Relief Fund and was instrumental in raising money through the annual carnival he ran at Shady Brook Farm. He was also an active member of the Lower Makefield Firehouse, as well as the Coatesville and Thorndale firehouses; and was a former E.M.T. volunteer with the Washington Station #41 Rescue Squad in Coatesville. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald & Doris Allan. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 30 years Francine (nee: Messina); he is the devoted father of Jennifer, Jacquelyn, and Janine Allan. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law Anthony and Pauline (nee: Greco) Messina; his brother Kirk and his wife Denice Allan; 3 nephews Brian (Paula), Justin (Eileen), and Jonathan; a sister-in-law Rosemarie Quaranta and her husband Joseph; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thurs., 6-9pm, at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 430 Radcliffe St., Bristol, followed by a viewing Friday, 10-10:50am, at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Ave., Yardley. Mass will begin at 11am. Entombment will follow.
